evaluation of cross immunity and histopathological findings in experimentally infected balb/c mice with neospora caninum and besnoitia caprae.
background: caprine besnoitiosis is an economically important disease of goats. neospora caninum, another coccidian parasite of worldwide distribution, infects several animal species and is a major cause of abortion in cattle . combined infections of n. caninum and besnoitia caprae can occur in geo-graphical areas endemic for both species of parasite in goats. this experiment was conducted to i...
متن کاملEvaluation of rapid diagnostic test kits for feline leukemia virus infection using samples from naturally infected cats
OBJECTIVES Feline leukemia virus (FeLV) is a potentially life-threatening oncogenic retrovirus. The p27 viral core protein is produced by the virus in infected feline cells, is found in the cytoplasm in several blood cells and can be free in the serum and plasma. ELISA or particle-based immunoassay are commonly used to detect the presence of the p27 core protein in samples obtained from blood. ...
متن کاملTitle: Evaluation of Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae diagnostic tests using samples from naturally and experimentally infected pigs
The objective of this study was to compare the performance of different diagnostic tests for the detection of pigs subclinically infected with Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae. To address this question, we infected pigs with APP serotypes 1, 3, 5, 7, 10, 12, and 15 and collected weekly tonsil swabs for isolation and PCR and serum samples for serological testing. Our results showed that the Multi...
متن کاملImmunosurveillance of naturally occurring feline leukemia.
When compared to their housemates that subsequently developed leukemia, cats that remained healthy had five-to tenfold higher (geometric mean) humoral antibody titers to the feline oncornavirus-associated cell membrane antigen. This is compatible with the application of the immunosurveillance hypothesis to the natural development of leukemia in an outbred mammalian species.
متن کاملPassive Transfer of Transplantation Immunity
Passive transfer of transplantation immunity was accomplished in inbred guinea pigs with tritiated thymidine-labeled lymphoid cells sensitized to homologous tissues. Autoradiographs of the homologous skin graft sites disclosed the presence of relatively few or no labeled cells at the site of rejection. Passive transfer of transplantation immunity was also accomplished with sensitized lymphoid c...
